Sandler Surpasses Margot Robbie as Hollywood's Highest Earner
Forbes magazine's latest ranking of Hollywood's highest-paid performers sees Tom Cruise securing the third spot, while Jason Statham emerges as the sole British actor in the top 10. The list showcases the diverse talent and financial prowess within the industry, with Cruise's enduring appeal and Statham's lucrative projects underscoring their prominence in the global entertainment landscape.
**Adam Sandler Emerges as Hollywood's Highest-Paid Performer of 2023**
According to Forbes magazine, Adam Sandler clinched the title of the highest-paid performer in Hollywood for 2023, boasting an annual salary of $73 million (£57 million). His financial ascent was propelled by four film projects, along with a successful comedy tour.
Sandler's involvement in Netflix's "Murder Mystery 2" as both a star and producer, coupled with his contributions to the popular animation "Leo," significantly contributed to his earnings. Additionally, he was part of the action comedy "The Out-Laws" and starred alongside his family in the well-received comedy "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah."
Remarkably, Sandler's last topping of the list occurred in 2002, highlighting his enduring influence and profitability in the industry.
In second place was Margot Robbie, whose co-production of the massive global hit "Barbie" earned her an estimated $59 million (£46 million). Despite the underperformance of the latest "Mission: Impossible" movie, Tom Cruise secured third place with $45 million (£35 million), bolstered by streaming residuals from "Top Gun: Maverick."
Ryan Gosling and Matt Damon shared the fourth spot with earnings of $43 million (£34 million) each, primarily driven by their respective projects "Oppenheimer" and "Barbenheimer." Meanwhile, Ben Affleck, Damon's co-star and director in "Air," landed ninth with $38 million (£30 million).
Sandler's "Murder Mystery" co-star Jennifer Aniston ranked sixth, accruing $42 million (£33 million). Despite appearing in only two films in the past five years, her earnings were likely supplemented by residuals from "Friends."
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jason Statham tied for seventh place, each earning $41 million (£32 million). Statham's involvement in four 2023 releases, including "Fast X" and "Meg 2: The Trench," underscored his lucrative year in Hollywood.
Overall, Sandler's resurgence to the top of the earnings chart, alongside the diverse array of talents represented, underscores the dynamic nature of Hollywood's financial landscape.
